Vintage 1950's Cabins on the Oregon Coast

Im Looking for vintage, 1950%26#39;s, cabins while traveling the coast of Oregon. I remember one that had a fireplace in what I thought was somewhere off the 101.

Im traveling this route again (From Brookings to Astoria) and would love to stay in as many ';rustic'; vintage fireplace-lit cabins as possible!

Anyone have any suggestions for great, vintage cabins in this area?

Vintage 1950's Cabins on the Oregon Coast

We stayed at the Inn@Arch Cape , which is by 101, rustic, big soft beds, big wood burning fireplaces, little kitchens and even smaller bathrooms..very nice and cozy for a short stay.

How about the Shamrock Lodgettes in Yachats?

I%26#39;ve never been to them, but heard good things. THey look cute from the road...

Yes, I just saw some pictures of the shamrock lodgettes. I think that would be a neat place to stay.

If anyone has any knowldge of other great vintage (1920s to 1960s) cabins in other areas along the Oregon Coast, I would love to know. I will be staying along the coast for about 5 days and want to stay in different cabins and/or vintage motels with lots of personality!

Chinookgrrrl,

I was gonna suggest the Shamrock!

They have 4 or 5 old, log-cabin type units along with some more modern ones. They have great views and are located along one of the most scenic stretches of the coast.

Never stayed at Shamrock, but have stopped to check them out and look at a couple of the rooms. I think they make rustic and still pretty nice.

It was for sale at time, and led to some family discussiond about buying it. Our daughter wants to move to the coast and they have talked about running a resort/motel.

Sylvia Beach Hotel in Newport probably fits.

I have only passed by Esther Lee in Lincoln City, but they have been there forever. and have loyal clientele.

Den- Didn%26#39;t mean to steal your thunder! :)

I%26#39;ve always wanted to stay there-it looks like such an interesting place to stay.

Oh no chinookgrrrl, you didn%26#39;t ';steal my thunder';. Thought it was interesting you mentioned the Shamrock b4 I even thoguth of it, especially since i only live 20 mile away.

phirl,

Bob Oxley did sell the Shamrock about 3 or so years ago. I thought it would be a great opportunity for someone.

Good to hear Shamrock sold, hope new owners care for the place. Think it is a place that would take some extra TLC to maintain the rustic, That is another place that has been there forever.

We head for Newport on Sun. my wife finding more reasons to go to coast which is great with me. This one is work, but we will take extra day to enjoy the coast.

Think we may check out Esther Lee have always been curious about it. Gotta be ok since it has been there so long. And we may be doing more mid week visits soon. since it appears she will really retire.

As for origianl poster thnk there are a few b%26amp;bs along coast that fit rustic, maybe you should search. I have never stayed at B%26amp;B on coast.

WOW! What an amazing response! Thank You to Everyone! I an going to look into all of these places.

It turns out that the original little cabins that I saw were ';Irelands Rustic Lodges';. I saw a picture and it just clicked! We will be staying there, as well as the Shamrock Lodgettes just because they look so great!

We will be staying one night in Astoria, as well, before we head off to Portland to look into Schools there.

So Now I just have to find the perfect spot to go crabbing and some neat hidden adventures and Im set! Any suggestions?

Thanks To all of your for your help!

Stopped by yesterday to check out the Ester Lee.
