Guest Ranches

We are looking for a great guest ranch to vacation to this year. We have two children ages 13 and 9. Any suggestions?

Not sure what you mean by ';guest ranch';, but this place has qualified as ';great'; for our family for years: http://www.blackbutteranch.com/. It%26#39;s more vacation resort than ranch, but there are cattle in the meadow and horses to ride, so you can at least get a taste.

We absolutely love Black Butte Ranch and have been going there since our kids were little (now they are 11 and 14) and they still look forward to our time there. However, it is not a true guest ranch where you get to help with the horses, etc. The only one I am aware of is Rock Springs Guest Ranch just outside of Bend. I have not been there but there was a recent discussion about it on this forum. I believe there are more true guest ranches in Colorado and Montana.

In addition to the Rock Springs Guest Ranch just outside of Bend (which is very nice) there is the Long Hollow Ranch north of Sisters that is a working cattle ranch. There is also one called Willow Springs that is in south east Oregon that could be more difficult to get to if you are flying to Oregon instead of driving. There are lots of guests ranches in the United States, so if you are not set on one in Oregon, go to duderanches.com and you%26#39;ll find plenty to choose from

Check out the Idaho Dude and Guest Ranch Association at www.idahodra.com. There are several great guest ranches in Idaho. You can%26#39;t find better scenery. Kids especially love cattle drives, and yours are old enough to fully participate.

As noted by mistletoe, unsure of your definition. You might take a look at SunRiver, just south of Bend. It provides many amenities that probably would be fun for you and the kids. I want to go to Black Butte Ranch..I want to go to the Sisters Rodeo, so that is what I would recommend..based on what I want LOL
