Can anyone tell me which is the best and most comfortable theatre to go to and see a movie?
Best Movie Theatre
In town?
The biggest is the Pioneer Place theatre in Pioneer Square..there is one at the Lloyd Center too..but I don%26#39;t love it.
The one I like best is a tiny bit smaller but very nice, the Fox Tower on Park right next door to Nordstroms..
Then on NW 21st is my favorite Art House theatre, Cinema 21.
Best Movie Theatre
Hi Judy,
Don%26#39;t know if you wanted Portland proper or if the burbs will do, but the new-ish theaters at Cedar Hills Crossing in Beaverton are extremely nice. Stadium seating in very cushy seats, and you can lift the arms and have a little ';love seat';, if you%26#39;re so inclined.
The food is also cafeteria style, and you can get anything from pizza, to hot dogs, to fill your own bag with candy, like in the grocery stores. I hear the Bridgeport 18 theaters are similar.
Yep, Bridgeport is similar, except for the food, which is the typical single counter, unimaginative $12 candy, popcorn, soda combo. I really like the way they do food at Cedar Hills Crossing.
Sherwood%26#39;s also got the nice stadium seating thing going too.
I have not been to Cedar Hills, but yes, Bridgeport and Sherwood are great. Bridgeport can get really busy though.
For the metro area, Hands-down, Cinetopia in Vancouver.
Leather, wide-bottom seats, leather footrests, get served wine and hors d%26#39;oeuvres, listen to live jazz before the movie.
For Portland, all of the above are good suggestions, I%26#39;ll add another to the list - Century Eastport 16. I haven%26#39;t been there, but a friend says that it%26#39;s more comfortable than any of the Regal theaters.
J%26amp;S, I have been reading about Cinetopia and we want to go there soon! Vancouver is not that hard to get to ( I discovered while getting lost lol)
They also have happy hour, where you can get nice appetizers for a few bucks, sip wine in the wine bar while listening to live piano music, sit by the fireplace, or out in the garden area.
If you don%26#39;t like precocious Yuppie hangouts, this is not your movie theater, as I%26#39;m sure you can tell by the description. But we appreciate it - there are so few nice places to hang out in The Coov.
Thank you so much, everyone! Good answers. I have been to Lloyd Cinemas and agree completely. That%26#39;s why I was sure that there was a better way to see a movie in Portland!
Which theatre would have the biggest screen and/or the best sound? I am more interested in how comfortable it is, while my husband worries about other silly things like that.
Thanks again!!
The biggest screen has to be that one at Lloyd Cinemas I think - it%26#39;s really big. The one outside the mall, not inside.
Best sound - all of the newer ones have great sound - I don%26#39;t know if there%26#39;s a best...
On a related subject, I read somewhere the Clinton Street Theater has the best popcorn. Anywhere must be better than Regal - it went really downhill after Regal bought out Act III.
The screens in the Pioneer Place theaters are pretty big, stadium seats etc. Depends on the movie, we went to a screening and had a huge theatre, then the small foreign films will be in a room with about 40 seats..but they are clean and have good popcorn :) lol
