Hubby and I are flying into PDX on 9/23 and would like to spend two nights at a romantic B%26amp;B within 2.5 hours drive of PDX. We%26#39;re open to the wine country, the coast, Mt. Hood . . . What are your recommendations?
2 Night Trip within 2.5 hours of PDX?
The Stephanie Inn, just south of Cannon Beach is fantastic!

I second that recommendation!
I agree with pdxtravels, the Stephanie Inn is gorgeous. We had a very nice dinner there right before John Newman left to open his own restaurant. It is right on the ocean with gorgeous views of Haystack Rock. www.stephanieinn.com
You may also want to consider the more quiet little town of Nehalem where there is the Nehalem River Inn. They also have an excellent restaurant there where we have had a couple of excellent meals. Very cozy and Ryan and Nicole are very hospitable hosts. www.river-inn.com Have fun! :)
Syrahgirl, I have to ask..... When you personally are looking for hotel recommendations on TA or other travel boards, are you wanting responses from people who%26#39;ve never stayed in the places they%26#39;re recommending? I thought not!! So, take a lesson from yourself, please. Cheers! :-)
Syrahgirl--How can you recommend a place to stay based on a dinner at an onsite restaurant???
Stephanie Inn hardly a B%26amp;B, but guess it depends on what you call a B%26amp;B.
If you want a place with a half dozen rooms with host readily available suggest you search further. I know a few months ago here someone posted info about B%26amp;B in Agate Beach north part of Newport and they were quite pleased.
Sylvia Beach Inn in Newport may be closer to B%26amp;B.
And if I can convince any one to go to central coast I get a bonus. lol
A few suggestions for the wine country are www.youngberghill.com in McMinnville and www.blackwalnut-inn.com. in Dundee. I have not stayed here, as I live just a few minutes away, but they are both highly regarded amongst the locals.
One place in the Columbia River Gorge that I have been trying to book a stay at, but they are always full for our dates, is the Bridal Veil Lodge (www.bridalveillodge.com). It is right on the historic highway and is a great location (very close to Multnomah Falls). Everytime we go past it, I want to stop, lol! This place is not as upscale as the two others I mentioned, but I think that is the charm of it.
If you are still interested in Mt. Hood area, Timberline Lodge is a great place to stay for a %26#39;classic%26#39; NW type of experience. It is rustic but has all amenities. Restaraunt is great too. It%26#39;s not a B%26amp;B, but an interesting place to stay or check out if you%26#39;re interested.
Good Luck in your travels!
Chinookgirl--Good idea, however we tried to get reservations for the 23rd and they are full. But who knows, maybe there will be a cancellation!
I second the Black Walnut Inn for an overnight in wine country.
I have not stayed there but we are planning to go to the Inn at Arch Cape www.innatarchcape.com....very VERY romantic with fireplaces and all.
Cannon Beach is 90 minutes from Portland, so you can go really far to be within 2.5 hours drive from town.
Recommending a hotel based on eating in their restaurant is the same as recommending the hotel based on using the lobby bathroom..the same poster does it all the time...
