Breakfast ??

We are coming to Oregon and staying in Portland, Seaside, Yachats, Florence, and Eugene. Everywhere I look I see a lot said about where to have lunch and dinner but not much about breakfast. When I travel I love starting the day with a good hearty breakfast. Anyone out there know of places in these 5 cities that would have a nice normal breakfast menu with a wide variety of things to choose from?

TIA

Breakfast ??

Hi Blukatz and welcome to the Forums! We had a ver nice breakfast at the Heathman Hotel this past summer. The crab cakes with poached eggs were excellent.

Seaside has a few places we like. Pig n Pancake, McKeown%26#39;s and a few days a week, Corpeny%26#39;s down by Ave. U. McKeown%26#39;s is located in the Historic Gilbert District. We love the complimentary scones here. Another good place for a Sun. brunch is the Shilo Inn. They have a very nice buffet and you will have views of the ocean here. Cheers and enjoy Oregon, where are you staying in Seaside? :)

Breakfast ??

Oh, forgot to mention that the Heathman Hotel is located in downtown Portland. :)

Here in Portland, a few good places for breakfast include Mother%26#39;s Bistro, Lorn %26amp; Dotties, and Everett St. Bistro. The Pearl Bakery is great too, just not a usual breakfast menu. Very good though! One place that I have only had dinners at, but they also do breakfast, is Red Star Tavern. Ask Scarlett about this, as I believe she has had breakfast there.

I think the only ones of those I%26#39;ve had breakfast at a place worth recommending is Portland. We%26#39;ve had breakfast on the coast plenty, but it always seems to be pretty standard Pig N Pancake type food.

In the Portland Area:

Sunday Brunch at Skamania Lodge

Mothers Bistro

Original Pancake House

Cadillac Cafe on Broadway

Also good are any of the hotel restaurants like London Grill, Heathman, etc.

If you like huge (and I mean huge) portions of food served on large pizza pans, like a pancake three feet across, or ';slop'; piled high, 8-egg omelettes, etc. then Fatty Patty%26#39;s in Vancouver is your place.

On the way to Seaside from Portland, you%26#39;ll pass by Camp 18, which is probably the best breakfast spot on the highway or on the coast, at least that I%26#39;ve been to.

I forgot about Camp 18! It%26#39;s a really cool place, go with a huge appetite, the Cinammon Rolls are literally the size of a dinner plate. We split things there now, the portons are so huge I feel badly wasting food. Great suggestion, J%26amp;S! :)

Skamania Lodge is nice, but it is a good 35-40 miles east of Portland. A bit out of the way for breakfast, IMO, unless you are venturing out to the gorge area.

I guess it was a bit of a stretch to consider that ';Portland Area'; wasn%26#39;t it? :-)

Fullers Coffee Shop on NW 8th %26amp; Davis in the Pearl..

Pearl Bakery on NW 8th %26amp; Couch in the Pearl

Everett Street Bistro NW 12th %26amp; Everett

Mothers Bistro on SW 2nd %26amp; Stark

I also love the Red Star Tavern in the 5th Avenue Suites, they are famous for their excellent brunch on weekends too.

Unfortunetly my favorite breakfast places I know of aren%26#39;t in the cites you are staying in on the coast but on your route. But for what its worth...

Otis Cafe; Otis, OR (near Lincoln City)

Greatful Bread Bakery; Pacific City, OR

When I stay in Florence for work, I useally have breakfast at the Old Town Coffee Co/Siuslaw River Coffee Co. in %26#39;old town%26#39;, but I dont think they have big breakfasts-mostly coffee and pretty good pastry items. There are quite a few good restaurants in Florence, but I dont know if they serve breakfast.

For Eugene, try the Original Pancake House on Broadway near the U of O. For Florence, Cackleberries or Bennies on Hwy 101. For Yachats, try the Adobe and finally, the Pig-n-Pancake in Seaside on Broadway.
