I haven%26#39;t been to the Oregon Coast for 12 years and now we%26#39;re going to stay in Seaside.. on a tight budget.. been looking at Gilbert Inn B%26amp;B -- the pictures look nice but then all accommodations on the internet show their shiny best... has anyone seen this place.. does it look OK from the outside... only two reviews on the %26#39;review page'; -- also any other ';must do%26#39;s'; in Seaside, or around the coast? Thanks. (Its my 50th B-Day!!)
Gilbert Inn B%26amp;B
Hi! We stayed here several years ago, it was a very nice stay. The property looks very nice, I rode my bike by there almost daily when we stayed in Seaside several weeks last summer.
I would recommend a meal at the Taste of Tuscany in Seaside, I have a review with photos under the Seaside Restaurant section on this site. Bigfoot Pub %26amp; Grub has excellent ribs every Sun. night. Sam%26#39;s Seaside Cafe for great seafood in a casual atmosphere and the Pacific Way Bakery %26amp; Cafe in Gearhart for a great food in a chaming ambiance.
Mo%26#39;s in Cannon Beach will not break the bank, you will gorgeous views of Haystack Rock here. Ecola State Park is not to miss in Cannon Beach.
Have fun and Happy Birthday to you! :)

Syrahgirl.. you are amazing with your help in SOO many areas down the coast.. thanks for sharing your wealth with us... Another question then (my accommodation is a big deal for me).. would we be happier in Edgewater Inn right on the water, or is it a bit rundown?.. I get mixed reviews on TP. And also thanks for the restaurant tips.. we%26#39;ll definitely check them out!
Thanks, we love spending time on the Oregon Coast. The Edgewater does look rundown from the outside, but I have not seen the rooms.
If you want oceanfront accomodations, have you considered the Inn of the Four Winds? I have some photos posted of the outside of the property. They are the Martin Hospitality Group that also own the Stephanie Inn and the Surfsand in Cannon Beach.
We enjoyed 4 nights at the Tides by the Sea. The property is in a very scenic part of the coast, Ave U where my family enjoyed surfing. We had an upstairs corner room and the views were amazing from the living room. The room we had was complete with a fully stocked kitchen which was nice, two bedrooms, a fireplace and small but nice bathroom. We loved the pool area where I swam laps each evening and it is very easy access to the prom there. Corpeny%26#39;s serves very good made to order breakfasts Thurs.-Sun. We walked there one morning. Hope this helps! :)
Wow! White Rock BC!? I have a friend who lived there, she now lives in Vancouver. That is also a beautiful beach area..Enjoy our coast and Happy Birthday!
Yes, the Martin Hospitality Group has great hotels (we have stayed at the Surfsand numerous times). But they are NOT budget, by any stretch of the imagination.
We have a poster here that lives in Seaside, her screen name is Rivergallery, so hopefully she will post as I am sure she could help you out.
Haystack Rock is great...be sure to go at low tide to check out the tide pools.
As far as must do%26#39;s...what are your interests?
Yes, Rivergallery lives in Seaside and can definitely give up-to-date advice on where to stay etc..
Hey thanks for your input and your well wishes for my B-day... I would love to hear from Rivergallery.. although I%26#39;m thinking that I need to book something soon... I see where Gilbert B%26amp;B is offering the second night at half price (mid-week), so that is tempting.. but just wanted to get some opinions -- hoping someone had been there.. (only 2 reviews). The key to a great couple of days there is the sunshine... what are the chances mid-October? Anything great to do indoors if the rain is coming down? (I know all about that since I live on the Pacific Coast up here in Canada!)
As far as the weather...yesterday was supposedly the last warm day for a while at least. I would expect chilly weather, and most likely some rain. Honestly, the rain doesn%26#39;t stop my from doing anything. We are so used to it. I am guessing you might act the same way up there. So just bring layers, and do whatever it is you wanted to. No bad weather...just inappropriate clothing:)
There is a small aquarium to see in Seaside that is fun. You can feed the seals there. We also enjoy the Seaside Outlets where you can shop. Wine taste at the Wine Haus, they are very nice folks in there.
If the weather is rainy, you could always drive to Astoria, about twenty minutes away to tour the museums there. :)
Those are great suggestions... thanks! Might need those rainy alternatives! I am also now looking into Inn of the Four Winds as the appeal of a fireplace in the fall is great.. still no decision is made!! Yikes.. you%26#39;d think I was booking this for the Queen of England!
