I%26#39;m curious as to who would Ally with me on the desires of seeing more days being Cloudy or Foggy and half the time seeing it rain? or rain as much as it likes (Actually. I don%26#39;t care.)?
I could not or like the idea of Celebrating Sunshine and overwhelming warmth. I like having warmth from the cold, but not the huge atmosphere around me being all warm. I like the atmosphere cold, but not finding myself being made cold from it. And not above 75 degrees and having that overwhelming warmth. It%26#39;s always too Hot above 80 degrees for me. The idea to find other sources for warmth is the challenge of my idea adventures and incentives to over-come my anxieties and then enjoy the bliss of the warmth over the cold. When I think of exercising and exerting myself, my own body generates warmth and it feels better that the air will be cool for me as such.
I%26#39;m not yet been able to see Astoria. But I like to know how many Allies will I find in Astoria for the climate it is and what I like? I am trying to find such a climate that would seem like Astoria has. I like to know how welcomed I could be if I could find my place in Astoria?
Looking for Allies to my wanting to find Gray Days
Hello Numbus, with all the grey, drizzley weather in Astoria and all the folks who choose to live there,,I would say you will be welcome and will find comraderie. From what I know of Sacramento, its is often hot and dry and the last weeks weather must have been really hard on you.Get up to Astoria, sounds like your kind of place
Looking for Allies to my wanting to find Gray Days
Try Forks Washington - a nice 121 inches of rain a year, usually gray and rainy - average high in summer 72 degrees.

Ahh , hello Nimbus, I understand perfectly! You have certainly had your share of terrible hot days in California.
I agree with phirl but I also think that most people who live in the Portland Oregon area, especially those Coastal towns, like the foggy grey days.
It is very atmospheric and I hear it is good for your skin :)
As nice as the people are here in Portland and elsewhere in Oregon, I think you would be welcomed very nicely in Astoria.
Good luck, Scarlett :)
You may be a bit disappointed with the amount of glorious sun filled days we actually get...the other week we reached 100!!! However this was typically not the norm, until recent with each summer having more and more HOT days...the closer to the river or ocean the cooler you will be. As far as I know, we Astorians are friendly and inviting, of course depends where you work, live and what crowd you stumble upon...we have a great art community with many local artists, musicians and theaters, etc.., that weather out the winter months..
Nade70 is correct. It can get quite warm during the summer and fall from Nehalem, north, due the warmth of eastern Oregon flowing down the Columbia River Gorge and out to the Pacific.
If you want fog, Eugene, IMHO, is the fog capital of Oregon. You can expect fog from October through February nearly every day. A little too depressing for me.

I ditto Nade..... Hello fellow Astorian.
There is also a new radio talk host who just moved here who talks about how friendly we are and learning about Astoria etc. He is on KAST, they have a website if I can dig it up for you I will post it, and maybe get a listen in online somehow.
did this get bumped or is it a new post? Oh my poor head is spinning.
LOL, It got bumped.
I am sorta looking forward to a grey day myself, another hot and sunny day in Portland somehow seems abnormal :D
We have a partially built shop/garage with no roof so I will take hot and sunny for at least three more weeks, thanks. Once the roof is on the rains can come!
I am trying to soak up every ray of sunshine I can before gloom sets in, since this will be my first winter without at least a bit of sunshine here and there. Chico was pretty good for big storms with short breaks of sunshine to revive you in between!
And it seems like Eureka would be perfect for a person who wants lots of clouds and fog.
Chicogirl, then I will not wish for gloom just yet :)
Actually, I will be leaving our beginning gloom for Spring in Argentina so it will be late November before I actually start to enjoy Portlands drearies.
We got through our first winter fairly well, in an apt with a dog that had to be walked regardless of weather conditions :)
