Salem in a day?

My kids (16 and 13)and I will be visiting Boston for 5 days mid Oct. and I wanted to spend either an afternoon/evening or all day in Salem. I%26#39;ve never been so don%26#39;t know where to begin. My 13 yr old is particularly interested in supernatural phenonmena. Any suggestions? thanks!

Salem in a day?

If you repost this question in the Massachusettes board, they can help you there:)

Salem in a day?

Dear Artemis zeus, A day in Salem will be all that you%26#39;ll really need. You could spend the morning touring the Capitol building and then grab a cup of cofffee and brunch walking around downtown ( actually rather pleasant for a conservative town and within walking distance of the Capitol). The afternoon should be spent on a road trip to Silver Falls St. Park. This is a real gem; 13 falls in a very accessable range. The shortest hike from the lodge actually goes behind one of the falls. In the fall the park is beautiful and even if there is haze and rain there is a haunting Northwest aura to it. As for the supernatural...not much...unless you are searching for the ghosts of our legislature which only meets for six months each biennium. Have a good time.

LOL, awesome post above...';As for the supernatural...not much';

Love Silver Falls area, one of my favorite hikes...though I think it%26#39;s a little over 3,000 miles out of her way :)

Supernatural? Supposedly west of Salem on the Van Duzer corridor is where all the alien abductions occur, LOL.

The kids might enjoy visiting the Willamette University campus. There are often shows and there is an art gallery there too. The cafeteria there is very good, and is a lunch destination for the downtown business crowd as well as the students.

You might need to go to the forum for Salem, MA not Salem, OR. Nothing spooky in Salem, OR.

This is a funny example of posters not reading carefully. The OP clearly mentioned Boston lol...

I agree Scarlett... except I like to read thru other posts before I ask a question just in case the topic has already been covered. That is why I went ahead and responded, LOL. :)
