Jacksonville

Just returned from a great weekend in Jacksonville! We stayed at ';Duncan Cottage'; and highly recommend it. (http://www.duncancottage.com/) It was cozy and would be nice for a couple or a family stay. There is a private courtyard (gravel) in the back with adirondack chairs and shade that was great for some relaxation. There is a small patio in the front which was great for people watching. AND there is a private driveway which is a great perk in a town with limited parking. :)

Also the Bella Union is a ';can%26#39;t miss'; stop for dinner and/or cocktails as the staff is great and the food is even better! I also had a great sandwich %26amp; salad for lunch from ';The Cottage'; (across from the Jacksonville museum on ';C'; street).

We saw the Subdudes %26amp; Susan Tedeschi concert on Saturday night and got a line sitter (the proprieter of the Duncan Cottage arranged this for us). This was a very good move as we were able to get one of the highly coveted blanket spots on the lawn in front of the reserved seats.

Jacksonville

Sounds like a nice trip. A line sitter, what a great idea!

Jacksonville

Sounds like a great time! I would like to stay at the Jacksonville Inn sometime or have a meal there. We have not been to Jacksonville in a few years, but did enjoy your short time there antique browsing! Thanks for the review. :)

syrahgirl, just add Jacksonville to that very long list of places you tell us You would like to go to. .Maybe next time you visit Oregon ...

I haven%26#39;t visited Jacksonville in quite a while. A good friend of mine from college is from there, so I used to go back and visit her family. Then was back for her wedding there. It is so different though for personal visits like that instead of roadtripping through.

Yeah.. I do like that line-sitter idea! And what a great service for Duncan Cottage to offer. Was the concert the reason for the visit, or did you find other interesting things to do there?

';I would like to stay at the Jacksonville Inn sometime or have a meal there.'; Yes, and I would like to stay in the White House%26#39;s Lincoln Bedroom and have dinner with the president.

It%26#39;s hard to tell from all these replies, if anybody likes the outdoors and hiking. All that talk about food and entertainment.

I that that stuff too, and hiking

We just moved to Applegate Valley last summer - with a J-ville address.

If by chance, anyone is a hiker, and doesn%26#39;t know what%26#39;s around here, I made a bunch of web pages for various local hiking. They are listed with other Oregon pages in my menu.

First, go to...

www.mdvaden.com

Then, there is a drop-down menu at the bottom - open it, and be sure to SCROLL

The hiking pages that are local will read...

RED BUTTES

FROG POND

TABLE ROCK

BLUE LEDGE MINE

Red Buttes talks about 3 trails. Frog Pond is quite a memorable setting. My son said it was the best hike we ever went on. Maybe it%26#39;s because there was a bit of winter snow left.

Thanks for the hiking suggestions! We didn%26#39;t have time for a hike on this trip (golf and family took over, in addition to the concert at Britt). I like to check out the geocaching sites as those are usually a nice way to find hikes too.
