Can anyone recommend a nice hotel for one night close to PDX airport, preferably under $100.00. Check Portland hotels was not to thrilled with comments. Figured locals would steer us right. Thanks so much! Again!

You really can%26#39;t go too far wrong with the airport hotels - they%26#39;re all the standard business-class ones you see everywhere:
Embassy Suites, Country Inn, Staybridge Suites, Hilton, Marriott, Shilo Inn, Super 8, Holiday Inn, and so on and so on - if you%26#39;ve been to one, you%26#39;ve been to them all.
The nice part is that they are all pretty new, so it%26#39;s hard to get too skunked. However, don%26#39;t take anything more than three miles from the airport, and make sure it%26#39;s East of the airport - a lot of the travel sites say ';Portland Airport'; area but list things that require you to drive a really long way to get to the actual airport like Jantzen Beach, for example. The only entrance to the airport is from the east side, so if you take something that looks close, but is west, then you%26#39;ll have to drive all the way around.
The ones on Airport Way, Glenn Widing Drive, or within a block or two either side will be the newest, while ones on 82nd or Sandy, you might want to look twice - they%26#39;re usually older and not as nice.
Hope this helps - I know it can be a bit confusing!

I%26#39;ve found the Shilo Inns to be the most consistent proably b/c they are a smaller PNW chain. The rooms are cheaply decorated but always clean and comfortable.

I highly, highly, highly recommend the Hampton Inns. I just did a park and fly special with them. While it does not look impressive on the outside, they have put in all new beds and linens. The beds are extra comfy. I actually asked about ordering one from home. And all the linens are down filled. We stayed overnight there for an early morning flight out. Unfortunately, our destinations hotel%26#39;s beds were horrible. So the only goods night sleep was at the Hampton. I think the regular rooms without the park and fly are around 100.00 a night. They have a great breakfast in the mornings and the front desk was fabulous!
Good to know Litlelisa. Hampton Inns are owned by Marriot and are usually pretty nice. I stayed in one in Scottsdale last April and it was VERY nice for the $$ ($89/night if I remember correctly). We had a king suite and it had a seperate bedroom w/ a very comfy bed. The room was nice sized as well.

I agree - I%26#39;ve never had a complaint about the Hampton Inn, it%26#39;s always seemed like a reasonable value for the price and it is in a very convenient location to the Airport, in a newer area. Well, there was the one time up near Seattle I think it was, when there was a fire drill in the middle of the night and we all had to pile out into the parking lot in our pajamas...
If anyone happens to be driving 101 south to California, the Hampton Inn is also the nicest hotel in Crescent City, CA by a good margin - right on the ocean. Of course, not like the competition for best hotel is real fierce there...
I like the Shilo Inns. We have enjoyed nice stays at the ones in Grants Pass and Seaside. www.shiloinn.com is their website. Looks like the one by the PDX airport has been newly remodeled, the rooms look very nice! :)
A friend of mine claims that Shilo by the airport has a great Sunday Brunch - not sure how reliable he is, though...haven%26#39;t had it myself.
We stayed at the Shilo Inn at PDX last year, and did the park %26amp; fly deal. I would stay there again!
