My husband and I plan to spend our first anniversary in Bend but neither of us have ever been there. Any suggestions for a romantic hotel (under $179 per night)? It would be nice to have a jacuzi tub or spa in the room, and I have seen a few hotels that advertise these, but we would also like it to be nice and preferably quiet. I also like the idea of being able to walk to places, as well.
Any suggestions or advise would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

The Pine Ridge Inn is a beautiful boutique hotel with jaccuzzi baths in each room. It isn%26#39;t walking distance to downtown, but only a few minutes drive. There are nice walks, though, close by along the Deschutes River and the location is quiet and the hotel romantic, plus they serve wine in the evening and a nice breakfast. There are two Bed %26amp; Breakfasts a couple of blocks from downtown and near Drake Park. One of them, Lara House, has just re-opened after being remodeled. We stayed there before it was re-done and it was great then. I suspect that with the refurbishment, the prices have gone up considerably too, so it may not be in the price range you want. The other B%26amp;B is Sather House, also close to downtown %26amp; Drake Park. McMenamins Old St. Francis School is downtown and they have a little cottage called the Art House in addition to hotel rooms, and they have a beautiful Turkish soaking pool (not private). McMenamins won%26#39;t be a quiet get away, but it%26#39;s a fun place and they did a great conversion of an old Catholic school. There is the AmeriTel Inn that has very nice rooms and is right there in the shopping/dining area of the Old Mill District. It would be the most hotel-like of the ones I mention here. If walking distance to downtown is important, you could see if Lara House is in your price range (they don%26#39;t post prices on their website). If you don%26#39;t mind driving several blocks to downtown, or just a few to the Old Mill District, then the Pine Ridge Inn is my recommendaton. You can%26#39;t go wrong, I don%26#39;t think, with any of these places. Have a wonderful time!

Great place to spend the 1st I must say. Congrats!! I agree with the above posts and would put pine ridge at the top as not only are the above mentioned reasons enough, but they are great people. My wife is friends with the owner and really thinks she is wonderful ( I am yet to meet her), but it does not provide the proximity as mentioned. Ameritel is a great locality and has mtn views and tubs in several rooms, but the price is unknown to me for this time of year. For dinner (as I imagine you will go somewhere) can I pleae recommend Cork??? We went there for our 5th anniversary this year, and it was on of the best of our lives! Plesae let us know if you need more ideas for cocktails, dancing, music, etc..
Though we usually stay at Eagle Crest in Redmond, so my take on the accommodations isn%26#39;t the best, but a couple thoughts for dining:
1) Staccato at the Firehall has to be the most consistenly wonderful restaurant now in Bend. I went there four times this year, and it was outstanding. It%26#39;s too loud inside, but outside is great, and they have heaters for the outdoor seating. Outstanding service too. http://www.staccatosfirehall.com/
2) Cork is also very good - not so nice of an ambience, because there are only a couple tables on the sidewalk, but consistently good food. Also a little loud inside to really be considered romantic, though, I think.
3) A new restaurant I haven%26#39;t tried yet, but keep hearing about is The Blacksmith Restaurant. I%26#39;ve seen the outside tables walking by and it looks very nice. http://www.theblacksmithrestaurant.com/
4) After dinner, you can try Vino Mercato for some lovely live jazz and an excellent dessert menu. http://www.vinomercato.com/
Thank you all so much for the suggestions. I am sure we will enjoy our weekend.
If you are here for the weekend, try the Sunday Brunch at The Victorian Cafe. The Alpenglow Cafe (downtown) also has excellent breakfast.
Another new restaurant is Baltazar%26#39;s - it%26#39;s a Mexican place but the empasis is on seafood.
Try the Bendistillery ';martini bar'; for cocktails. The Blacksmith has great drinks too and the lobster corndogs are very tasty.
I don%26#39;t know anyone that has stayed there, but Lara House (www.larahouse.com) has always looked appealing for a getaway accomodation near downtown.
