Family restaurant near Columbia Gorge falls?

Me again with a new question :)

We are meeting some old friends at one of the falls (Bridal Veil, Multnomah, somewhere between Everett and Hood River) for lunch and to see the falls. Our friends live in Portland but haven%26#39;t been there yet, we are visiting and driving from the airport.

Our friends have young children, 8, 5 and 3, ours are 9 and 12.

A picnic is probably not easy as we are coming from athe airport and I don%26#39;t want to ask them to make one, we invited them to meet us.

So...are there any neat palces to eat near the falls, preferably with a view, that are family friendly? The kids aren%26#39;t monsters, they won%26#39;t run around shrieking, but they are kids and would appreciate some space...a lodge or something seems ideal.

We%26#39;re not interested in chain restaurants.

Thanks very much for any advice!

There is a restaurant at Multnomah Falls Lodge. We have had Sunday brunch there with our kids and it is fine. There are two rooms, connected...one has a massive fireplace and the other is sort of a glass sunroom. From that sunroom there is a great view of the falls.

I appreciate that. I%26#39;ll see if we need a reservation or what....

Yes, call for a reservation. We had the brunch, but other days of the week they regular meals.

Just to give you an option..... When you mention view, the first place that comes to mind is Skamania Lodge, near Stevenson, WA. When we were there several years ago they had a picnic-like barbecue thing on the front lawn overlooking the Gorge. I remember the view as breathtaking, but the food as uninspired. Obviously, shrieking or not, kids shouldn%26#39;t be a problem.

The better choice, though, is to take Mtngrl%26#39;s suggestion for the Multnomah Lodge restaurant. I%26#39;d forgotten about that sunroom.

Charburger in Cascade Locks is nice family place. we always felt comfortable taking our 4 kids in there. They make a good hamburger. Get a window seat and you can look out on Columbia to Wash.

Our son and family (3 grandkids) coming this week-end. Wife says lets see Gorge and go to Charburger.

However Multnomah Falls Lodge is much nicer place if you get room with ceiling windows. and even nicer if you don%26#39;t. but to me a bit less kid friendly, and more costly

Thanks again, will look into those as well :)

I like Charburger too. Cascade Locks is fun - you can go down into the locks area. Charburger not fancy - but good for kids.

Its right next to the Bridge of the Gods.

Is there a restaurant RIGHT AT one of the falls? Same parking, no need to eat then go to the falls, by chance?

My map shows the Multnomah Lodge as being not at the same place as the falls - is that right?

Here%26#39;s the website for the lodge, ohliz: http://www.multnomahfallslodge.com/.

Have a great trip.

The lodge is right at the falls, and you can see it fom part of dining area through ceiling windows.
