Driving From Seattle to Cannon Beach

We will be taking this drive to spend a few days in Cannon Beach. Can anyone help with places to stop along the way. Recomended places to eat and see . It looks like we will take I-5 South to 101?

Thanks

I would take I-5 south to Kelso Longview, go to oregon side of Columbia and take US-30 to Astoria where you hit 101

Astoria well worth a stop for the history. Fort Clatsop, Lewis %26amp; Clark wintering site, Astor Column, maritime Museum

Of cours mt St Helens could be stop, but plan most of day.

Astoria is a great suggestion, phirl! Macciatto, we have had a home in Astoria for many, many years. It%26#39;s a gorgeous little town, located right on the Columbia River. We have been fortunate enough to have a display at the Maritime Museumthis year, The Art of the Decoy, check it out if you go to the museum. There are some great place to eat there. A few of our favorites are:

Silver Salmon Grill

Cannery Cafe (views of the river here)

Fulio%26#39;s for Italian, right in downtown Astoria

T Paul%26#39;s Urban Cafe

The Ship Inn for seafood and great views of the river

I have reviews and photos posted of a few of the above mentioned places. There is also a riverfront trolley that is fun and a couple of nice places to wine taste. Shallon, The Cellar on 10th and the Vintner%26#39;s Room at the Hotel Elliott. www.oldoregon.com for more info on Astoria.

Enjoy Cannon Beach. Ecola State Park is a must-see and Haystack Rock is one of the most photographed icons on the entire Oregon Coast. Have a great time! :)

How does this information help the poster?

Since you don%26#39;t live here (in Oregon)...

This might be helpful for Macciatto..

She has mentioned this home in about one million posts all over trip advisor just in case someone on this earth does not know..I always have believed-those that truely have, always never boast .those that truely do not have, boast always

Hello, I don%26#39;t have any advice for you on best directions from seattle to cannon beach beacause I am wondering the same thing.

Map quest suggested basically going to the coast by crossing over to wa -8 and going toward aberdeen and then heading to the 101 from there?

but another poster suggested to follow I 5 to kelso longview and take us - 30 to astoria.

so I am not sure at all which is the best route, I am worried about getting lost and would prefer to take the easiest route myself.

If anyone has suggestions on the easist route between these two options it would be a life saver. I am driving it for the first time, my ex use to always drive and I can%26#39;t remember the route!

Let me also know what route you decide to take.

thanks so much for all the help!

Brenda

Thanks for the quick replys. Can y%26#39;all help with our trip planning. We are staying at the Ocean Lodge, we have 4 nights reserved. Night one (FRIDAY) will be late arrival after the above mentioned drive. Would it be better to breeze down and spend a day in Astoria? What else would y%26#39;all recomend for Sat or Sun or Mon.(How far south should we plan on going)? We only have five nights total and were trying to decide if we do 4 in CB %26amp; 1 in Portland or 3 in CB and 2 in Portland. We spent a week in Portland last year and a day trip along the coast then. We love what both areas offer. Thanks again for all the help.

Personally, if you want to do them both..3 in CB and 2 in Portland looks good to me.

I%26#39;d take I-5 South and take the exit to Aberdeen in Olympia, follow that highway and don%26#39;t go all the way to Aberdeen, but ver off through Montesano. You%26#39;ll then go through small towns such as Raymond, South Bend and Naselle and then take the highway to Astoria and cross the over 4 mile bridge to Astoria. That would be the fastest way to Cannon Beach (a little bit shorter than going through Longview). Astoria would be a great stop. T Paul%26#39;s Urban Cafe is my favorite restaurant there. The total driving time will take approximately 4 hours. Either direction, you%26#39;ll go through Astoria. Have a great trip!
