Yachats beach side hotel?

We%26#39;ll be driving through Yachats on Oct 8,2006 and would like any suggestions on a beach side hotel for just the one night. I don%26#39;t mind anything north or south..not to far..just so its on the beach not a cliff. Thanks!

Yachats beach side hotel?

Check out the Overleaf Lodge: http://www.overleaflodge.com/. The beach in front of the hotel is very rugged and narrow, with pockets of sand only around low tides. A round-the-clock beach is a short walk to the north.

The only sandy beaches in or near Yachats are north of town. The Silver Surf is in this area as is the former Deana%26#39;s Cottages (unfortuatley, I can%26#39;t remember what they changed the name to....Soma or something like that).

The Overleaf, Fireside and Adobe are all ocean side facilities, but all rest on a ledge approximately 20 feet above the ocean. The Historic 804 Trail meanders in front of each of these. Along the trail are small sandy beaches called ';pocket beaches';. All three are very nice, with the Overleaf being the nicest.

The Shamrock Lodge and the Yachats Inn are just south of the river and also offers access to a small sandy beach at the river%26#39;s mouth, but there is a street (not a highway) between them and the beach.

Yes, but when we thankful for that, and at times the ledge appeared a whole lot less than 20 feet. ;-)

Sorry, should read, ';Yes, but we were thankful....';

We stayed at the Fireside last September and it was very nice. Not the Ritz but nice. We went next door to the Overleaf to get massages. There was alot of construction then but it looked very nice. We enjoyed a nice stroll on the walking path.

Adobe %26amp; Silver Surf were both customers of mine at one time. Never stayed at Adobe but heard it was very nice. Did stay at Silver Surf but that was quite a few years and a few owners ago. It was Motel 6ish back then but could be completely different now. They did have a nice indoor pool.

We have heard from friends that the Shamrock is really nice. Sometimes hard to get into, at least during the Summer but Oct may not be too bad and it%26#39;s right across the bridge from downtown Yachats.

As for being on a beach most of those are on the cliffs except for Shamrock which is near a beach so to speak but it%26#39;s the beach alongside the river outlet. I%26#39;m not sure if it goes all the way out to the ocean. Most of the nicer places are up on the cliffs. The ones next to the beaches seem to be the older (thats putting it nicely) places. The only truly beachfront nicer places I can think of is the Driftwood Shores south in Florence and several places north in Newport.

It also looks like the old Bayshore Inn in Waldport north of Yachats got bought and is now a Howard Johnson%26#39;s and from the pics it got a MAJOR facelift. It%26#39;s right on Alsea Bay and very close to the ocean beaches.

You may check on Bed %26amp; Breakfast places around Yachats. There are quite a few all through the section from North Florence to Waldport.

I guess I should make a correction. The Overleaf and Fireside aren%26#39;t really on a cliff but more of a rocky ledge. Knowing the ocean around here I have never been brave enough to venture out onto alot of the little beaches. Tides, logs and sneaker waves can be quite scary at times.

I%26#39;m back once again. I just looked at the Silver Surf and I forgot that they had a trail down to the beach. They have some photos on the website and you can form your own opinion about the rooms. Oh what time does to the memory. lol

We just got back last Tuesday, I%26#39;d recommend Yachats Inn. Its just about a 1/2 mile south of the bridge in town. Had relatives stay at the Adobe, it%26#39;s a decent place, not sure what it costs. Their beach is almost all rock. Yachats Inn has a nice sandy beach for the most of it, feel free to email me if you want some pics. I think their suites are $135 a night, but it has full kitchen is clean and warm. bluto_74@yahoo.com is my email, feel free to contact.
