Quick question about Rogue River Boats

Hi all, we are planning on doing Jerry%26#39;s Rogue River Jet Boats in early August... husband, me and DD age 7. We are really excited about it and understand we will be getting very wet. What%26#39;s the best way to dress for something like this? We are doing the 80 mile trip at 2:15pm and are stopping for dinner. We don%26#39;t mind being wet but I%26#39;m just looking for any recommendations on how others stayed comfortable. Also, how is the food and can anyone offer details about the dining options. Thanks so much!!

The trip up probably won%26#39;t be a big issue because you will going up the valley to Agness and it will probably be quite a bit hotter and drier than Gold Beach so you will dry fairly quickly. But on the way back down will be the opposite, you will be going to cooler weather on the coast with higher humidity. You may want to get some of those cheap ponchos for the trip back because even if the driver doesn%26#39;t get crazy like he does on the way up you will probably still get splashed some. It%26#39;s been nice up the coast here and it looks like Gold Beach has been about the same in the high 70%26#39;s low 80%26#39;s but there is always the chance of fog rolling in especially if it%26#39;s hot in the valley and the last couple of miles it could cool down to the 60%26#39;s real fast. The trip I went on with my sons 6th grade class it did just that and the kids had the driver get crazy on the way back down and alot of them regreted it. You may want to pack a coat in something waterproof. It doesn%26#39;t take much of a temp drop along with a little water and alot of wind to chill you down fast.

As for the dining, if you don%26#39;t go into it expecting much you won%26#39;t be disappointed. As far as I know they offer two places to eat one being Cougar Lane and the other I don%26#39;t remember but I%26#39;ve never heard rave reviews from either. The two trips I%26#39;ve taken up there, one was with Mail Boats and it was a catered Mother%26#39;s day trip and the trip with the 6th grade class we packed our own lunches so I don%26#39;t really know how good the meals are.

As for the wetness factor, I%26#39;d like to add the following advice: It totally depends on which pilot you get.

I spend a week of every summer at my friend%26#39;s place just short ot Lobster Creek on the Rogue, and our third favorite thing to do is to hang out on the bank in our kayaks. When we hear those jet boats coming downstream, we do our best to get in their way. Some of the pilots play it safe and just steer around us, but some of them (It doesn%26#39;t matter if it%26#39;s Jerry%26#39;s or Mail Boat) have fun with us and take the opportunity to make the tourist crowd happy by pulling a few 360s and making us flip over in their wake.

I guess the moral of the story is as such: Some of them will make you wet, and some of them won%26#39;t. If you have to wear a raincoat, then you%26#39;re missing part of the fun.

You will be wet - if you%26#39;re in the front few rows make that VERY wet. Make sure to bring lots of heavy-duty sunblock, and a windbreaker (a waterproof one is much preferred). You won%26#39;t need the windbreaker until it gets late, but you%26#39;ll sure be happy you have it. You%26#39;ll be going really fast, and when you%26#39;re wet and the hot sun isn%26#39;t shining on you...

Wear polypro quick-drying clothes and shoes you don%26#39;t mind getting wet. Wear a hat for sun protection, but make sure it has a tie, or it will fly off. Wear a swimsuit so you don%26#39;t have soggy drawers. Make sure you bring either a waterproof camera, or a dry bag.
