Cannon Beach - Where to stay?

Thanks for all of your replies. On our way driving down the coast, I am going to try to find a place to stay for one night at Cannon Beach and maybe one in Newport area. We are 3 adults. We don%26#39;t need anything fancy, but something reasonable with a good location near beach/ stores etc. would be nice.

Cannon Beach - Where to stay?

Friends here in Portland stay at the SurfSand and really like it. Right on the beach and walking distance to everthing in Cannon Beach..we can stay there with pup which is good if you are bringing a four-legged friend :)

Cannon Beach - Where to stay?

%26lt;%26lt;We have a beach cottage, ten minutes away in Seaside so we don%26#39;t require lodging. %26gt;%26gt;

you really don%26#39;t have to begin every post with this sentence..most people don%26#39;t care..they are looking for hotel recommendations..which seems to be something you don%26#39;t really have any information on, since you don%26#39;t stay in hotels ...

Out of curiosity, what is the definition of a more intimate hotel/motel?

We have stayed at the Surfsand a lot, so obviously enjoy it:) We were there just a couple weeks ago. We have always stayed in the ocean front building, up until this last trip, where we were in the building with the pool. The oceanfront building has been totally remodeled (very nice!), but the others are slated for work to begin in September. You do not say when this trip is, but if it is this summer, the rooms that have not been remodeled yet will be a bit cheaper.

The hotel is right on the water, looks out over Haystack Rock, has a good restaurant, The Wayfarer, and is a short walk to the downtown shops.

The website for this hotel is www.surfsand.com. If this is not quite the type of place you are looking for, then you might want to check the www.cannon-beach.net website for other places that might fit the bill.

Many places have minimum night stays, especially in the summer, but sometimes you can work around that. Also, if your trip is during high season, I would suggest to get a reservation asap. If you need more help, let us know:)

LOL elle...

Mtngrl, I am looking forward to the Sunriver trip report..

and I am still waiting to hear how one hotel is more ';intimate'; than the other...brings all sorts of things to mind LOL

Thanks Scarlett:) The ';intimate'; comment was interesting...how can someone even say that when they have not stayed at any of the places mentioned???

I think soaking in the jacuzzi in SurfSand with the waves crashing outside the window sounds kinda ';intimate'; , don%26#39;t you? or didn%26#39;t you? :)
