Wildlife Safari in Winston

I%26#39;ve visited the website for this location and perused the forum for information, but I am still left wondering how long it takes to drive around the park? Can one stop on the drive to enjoy the animals and have other cars pass by, or do cars need to caravan through? Are there animals to be seen from the village? How long should I allow to see things well without being rushed? (We%26#39;d probably enjoy the train ride, but not the camel or elephant rides.)

If you wanted to, you could plow through this in less than 40 minutes. The rules are pretty loose here and if you want to pull over to let others pass, that%26#39;s just fine. The only real rules are: Keep your windows rolled up when you%26#39;re in the grizzly, lion, and mountain lion encolsures, and no putting your car into reverse in the mountain lion enclosure. Oh, and don%26#39;t make fun of the lions, because they embarass easily. You can see a few animals from the village, but I don%26#39;t remember them being too wild or unusual with the exception of the weird monkeys that looked like Emeril from that cooking show.

Thanks for the info. That seems pretty quick. Do you think it%26#39;s worth the admission fee? Does anyone know where discounts can be found?

I thought it was worth the admission fee, particularly if you have kids. We had Ostriches attacking our car, but that was part of the fun. You can stop as often as you like, and take as much time as you like. We did.

We took probably 2 hours to go through the park in the car. Took our time and took some interesting photos...

I did it two years ago and plan to go back next Spring. Yes it is worth it. You are allowed to drive through twice - great view of the animals Yes you can stop as often as you want. No need to caravan.

I never heard of the embarrassed lions - someone%26#39;s tongue is definately in their cheek. Or am I wrong?

LOL, now I want to go to the Safari Park and see if I can embarrass a lion! Oregone, you did it again :D

and I am sure Emeril will be flattered LOL

We did the Safari Park many, many times when our kids were young. It%26#39;s great fun. The elephant rides were pretty cool, too! :)

You speak of your kids being married, syrahgirl, how long ago was that?

Did you have to stay in the car line or can you pull over?

We did this once years ago in NJ where they had an Animal Safari Park, our children were terrified LOL we could not wait to get out of that park ... I think they might have seen the Omen LOL
