Help on Neskowin

6 of us are staying for a long weekend. Early September. Any ideas on mild hikes, good food, etc.?

Help on Neskowin

This is embarrassing! A few weeks ago, you asked about Manzanita, and except for Brian, didn%26#39;t get much help. And now, Neskowin. Brian? Den? Anybody???

At least I topped the thread for you mamababoo. :-)

Help on Neskowin

I am not sure how far south Neskowin is, but for a Manzanita hike there is the Ne-ah-kan-ie Mt. it is a great hike.

Ok just googled it, it is S of Tillmook, N of Lincoln City.

East of TIllmook about 20miles is their new forestry center and there are some hikes there... I posted about it before with the link, but I am sure you can google it just as easily.

As for that area, there are the Sea Lion Caves, which is a little walk, I wouldn%26#39;t call it a hike though. But more importantly I would just say get thee to a beach :).

OK me again, this looks like a good website for links for hiking -http://www.trails.com/all-hotels/city-hotel.asp?dest=OR+Neskowin

For the food someone else will have to advise, but one suggestion try a good seafood place!

We stayed at Neskowin a few time a half dozen yearsago. We liked area. pretty quiet. Nice beach at Proposal Rock. Though others are better.

Not a lot of eat out places then maybe it has changed, but we have been back to golf and check out area and seemed much the same.

we usually cooked in condo.

Eat out is Lincoln City.

To stay: gray (grey?) fox rentals dot com.

To eat: Hawk Creek Cafe, but there%26#39;s gonna be a wait.

To hike: Cascade Head, just south of town. It%26#39;s a serious hike (12 miles round trip) but well worth it. If you don%26#39;t feel like doing that, you can rent horses in town for a beach ride or check out the scenic drive that loops through Otis. Lots of trails off the old highway there, but most are second-growth forest if that means anything to you.

The road loops out right next to the Otis Cafe, which was featured in the New York Times back in %26#39;90 (another good place to eat). I remember this because I lost my virginity in Otis in %26#39;90, and I remember the New York Times article being a significant part of that experience.

Oregone, hmm Otis 1990.?

The 3 or 4 times we stayed at Proposal Rock seemed perhaps good place.

I%26#39;d forgotten that Neskowin is so close to Lincoln City, otherwise I%26#39;d have also recommended the Cascade Head hike. You can do the 12-mile roundtrip (trail head right on 101), or you can cheat, and drive into Cascade Head Ranch, and catch the trail from there. Instead of 12, I%26#39;m guessing a 3-4 mile roundtrip. Either way, the view from the Head is well worth the walk.

Great info from my fellow intrepid travelers. Thank you all!

Neskowin is indeed a small place- but it is close to Lincoln City and to Pacific City- although the twisty road is, well twisty. Neskowin has a fantastic restaurant and I think the only one is called Hawk%26#39;s Creek. Very good food and very, very popular. It is small, but very nice. Hiking- well if you want to drive a ways, Cape Lookout is a great place to hike- lots of trails, nice beach in low tide, really quite lovely. It is between Pacific City and Netarts. It is about an 1 hr drive-approximately. Pacific City has a good brew pub called the Pelican Brewery- but again it is about 45 minutes away Lincoln city is the closest town to Neskowin.
