Portland for 2 days over labor day weekend

Hi,

I%26#39;m visiting friends in Portland over the labor day weekend and am trying to decide whether to spend the two days (sat-sun) in seattle or portland or both?

Should I try to visit both Mt. Rainier and Mt. St. Helens? Any other good drives around Portland? Is that a do-able iterinary? What else can I see in Portland (I%26#39;m not a big %26#39;food%26#39; person) and don%26#39;t particularly care to visit the different restaurants or museums.

Thanks.

Labor Day weekend will have awful traffic. I would stick to Portland with that limited amount of time. On holiday weekends, we have often encountered very long drives between Seattle (used to live there) and Portland, even up to 6 hours. You do NOT want to get stuck in any of that! Mt. Rainier is a bit much for just two days, but absolutely stunning if you do decide to go. Mt. St. Helens is a great option for a day! Don%26#39;t forget the Columbia River Gorge and Mt. Hood area. That would be another great day. If you are hanging around downtown Portland, you can hit Forest Park, which is on the edge of town and a great place. The coast is fun too, but the traffic over there will be a zoo, if that bothers you at all.
