we will be visiting your area to look for real estate in about 3 weeks. from rockaway to seaside. also hillsboro and forest grove. we prefer the coast. can you give me any insight as to what areas are more expensive or any areas to stay away from we are hoping to find something that is under ten years old 2/2 for 350 and under. am I dreaming or do I have to go to 400 and up for that. thanks
aloha cannon beach
Hillsboro and Forest Grove have many options for that price range. The coast is quite a bit higher priced. Cannon Beach is much more expensive than say Seaside. A good website is www.rmls.com.

thanks what a great site
Your selected sites are worlds apart in amenities and resources. Responses might be better targeted if you described your situation and your social/cultural needs.
we would more likely prefer the beach than inland. would like to find a place where we could retire. golf, a few dinners out and a movie. would do the trick
Try the next Oreg coast discovery Toledo. One of the toughest golf courses i have ever played. always more sunny than coast
check the Mona Lisa hillside painting
Cannon Beach is substantially more expensive than Arch Cape (4 mi south) and DH recently saw a modest-sized home listed in Arch Cape for $3+mill. We know of another home in Arch Cape that was listed for *a day* before an offer of about $1.5 (at least) was made -- small home, older than 10 years, likely in need of repair.
Obviously, the further you%26#39;re willing to go from beachfront, the less expensive it will be. Honestly, though, if you%26#39;re looking for something 350 and under that%26#39;s 10 years or younger, I%26#39;d skip Cannon Bch entirely, likely Seaside %26amp; Arch Cape too. I%26#39;m guessing Seaside is comparable to Cannon but I could be wrong since we don%26#39;t go there.
I can%26#39;t tell you what real estate is like in Rockaway. We do have some friends who bought in Wheeler because the price was right -- again, not a new home and not anywhere near the beach (although their view is beautiful).
Hillsboro and Forest Grove are radically different from each other and from the coast (the coast is a lot less populated to start).
Thinking about it further, it occurs to me that if you find Hillsboro and Forest Grove to your liking, the coast is only about an hour away. Also, Bandon, OR golf courses have been getting rave reviews, though Bandon is pretty far south. There, you%26#39;d be getting great golf in fabulous coastal country. Apparently, Phirl is a golfer, he%26#39;d probably know more.
