I am planning to drive the oregon coast from astoria to eureka, ca.
I have 8 days planned to drive the coast. Then I will spend a few more days traveling inland back to portland.I would then like to spend a couple more days exploring the portland area before I fly home.I would like to do this during the first 2 weeks of july, 2007.
What can I expect as far as weather is concerned? (especially the coast). I am not worried about the crowds during july.
oregon coast weather in july
We were on the coast for the day last July and it was chilly and damp. In Portland, it seems to stay cool and rainy right up until around July 4th..have you looked at http://www.weatherunderground.com/ ?
This site is great for trip planning...but then again, you can never really plan a trip around weather..especially here, unless you are hoping for warm and dry - then I would suggest August.
But look at that site, you can see what the previous July weather has been. Good luck~

Even in summer, bring layers. Most likely during that time the weather will vary quite a bit. We say our summers do not start til July 5th:) Even then, hot days on the coast are a rarity.
Well hot is relative thing. To those of us who live on the coast an 80 degree day is HOT! If you come from socal or Arizona it may not be too hot to you. Here is a link below to a weather station in Florence that gives this July%26#39;s numbers on weather. There was one day with rain and it got .16in. The highs ranged from 64 to 81. For the most part this Summer was really nice.

Here is a link to a station farther South in Port Orford. They got rain the same day but only .06in. And temps from 61-103.

As others suggest- coast weather is unpredictable and summers don%26#39;t start until July 5th. That%26#39;s the local saying since it always seems to rain for those fireworks!! :)
Pack clothing layers- it could be sunny and in the 70s, foggy and ~50s or somewhere in between. Sometimes if its foggy it burns off by the afternoon and sometimes not.
Inland most likely the weather will be in the 70s-80s or maybe 90s but that would be a rarity for early July. Although rain is always a possibility.
Since you are wise and spending quite a bit of time here, the weather should be good for at least part of your trip.
If not worried about crowds, don%26#39;t worry about weather. And if I tried predict July %26#39;07 weather. some would call me silly
we spent first week of July at Depoe Bay, couple of days with morning fog and coolness.
You should be getting the picture; expect the unexpected, where the expected is high temps around 70, and lows around 50. It would be unusual for lows to get much below 50, but don%26#39;t be surprised when highs are anywhere between 60 and 80. Hope for no rain!
