Sights to see around Sisters?

My husband and I are Aussies and will be driving from Yosemite up to Vancouver via central Oregon the week after next. Plan to stop overnight in Sisters on our way north and wondered what there is to see near ther or further north from Sisters . Planning to take the inland road on our way up to Vancouver and then on our way back to SF will come back down the Coast Rd. Any suggestions of natural wonders or wildlife oriented things etc would be great for both directions - we%26#39;re not hikers or campers . (Have been to Oregon Trail, John Day, Bend and Crater Lake sites before).

I love the area around Camp Sherman, 15 miles or so northwest of Sisters. Most of the sights center on the Metolius River, beginning at its head, which you can see flowing from underground. Camp Sherman itself is a few miles downriver, with its interesting little ';General Store'; stocking everything from grocery items to $3,000 fly-fishing rods. And the river is just beautiful there. Another 4-5 miles downriver is a fish hatchery, which is also an interesting and entertaining stop. That%26#39;s not to mention Wizard Falls, a photographer%26#39;s dream, seen as you cross the bridge into the hatchery.

Dee Wright Observatory is also worth a visit. It%26#39;s about 15 miles west of Sisters. It sits in the middle of a large lava field, with mountains on the horizon in almost every direction.

Have a great trip.

I second all mistletoe%26#39;s ideas on the sisters area.

Camp Sherman area is great. Along with the Dee Wright Observatory-very interesting if you%26#39;re into geology-and even if you aren%26#39;t.
