Hotel to stay in Troutdale

Have a reservation for 3 nights on Tuesday in Troutdale. I chose it for convenience to Columbia Gorge, etc. Would appreciate any comment son Troutdale hotels

Hotel to stay in Troutdale

Probably the most often recommended lodging in Troutdale is Edgefield: www.mcmenamins.com/index.php鈥?/a> McMenamin%26#39;s places are definitely not the ordinary, usually retaining much of the character of the building%26#39;s prior use(s), so, Edgefield might not be your cup of tea. And for a room with private bath, it%26#39;s probably more expensive than Comfort Inn.

To answer your other post, Comfort Inn is in a safe area, but nothing to get too excited about. The best nearby restaurants are in truckstops... There%26#39;s also a small outlet mall a short drive away.

I have not been to Comfort Inn. I do know it is next to busy truck stop. Only those who have stayed there can say if that is a problem. I have stayed too close to truck stops a time or two and tend to avoid them Truck engines can be running much of night, but maybe troutdale has noise ordinance.

Edgefield is a special place. Not real fancy but memorable. I meet a friend there Friday

We also enjoy McMenamins Edgefield - nice little golf course, restaurant, bars, movies, etc. It%26#39;s more rustic than the business class acommodations of Comfort Inn and Holiday Inn Express though.

The Comfort Inn and Holiday Inn Express are in great locations to use as a gateway to the gorge - dining options in the immediate area of those hotels though are limited to truck stop food and fast food. Both have free wireless internet and are pretty much the same you%26#39;d find anywhere else.
