Quaint Towns

What quaint towns do you adore in Oregon and why?

Quaint Towns

Lisa, if you are making a trip here, you can post all of your questions on the same thread, keeping it together for you.

If you are not, may I ask why all the questions? are you thinking of moving here? or taking a survey LOL

Quaint Towns

Scarlett, both! Plus breaking up the questions into different threads allows for more direct responses. :)

Piggybacking on Scarlett%26#39;s comments, I think you%26#39;ll get more responses if you tell us more what you%26#39;re looking for rather than asking us about what we like. There are some here who could literally write books in answer to each of your questions as they%26#39;re currently phrased.

Hi Lisalala, the way you have categorized your questions is just fine! As far as quaint towns, here are some of my favorites:

Ashland: Quaint little town known for the Shakspeare Festivals that they present, fine restaurants, cool little downtown area and Lithia Park

Nehalem: A gorgeous, quaint little town located by the Nehalem River. There is a restaurant there, the Nehalem River Inn that we adore and nice little street dowtown with antique and gift shops

Manzanita: Quaint coastal town on the Northern Oregon Coast, not as populated as Seaside or Cannon Beach, a nice place to relax and unwind

Cannon Beach: Quaint downtown area, I have a review with photos under the Cannon Beach Review Section if you would like to see some photos, nicerestaurants, shops and art galleries

Seaside: The Historic Gilbert District is very quaint, with unique gift shops and antique stores. We like to shop for goodies for our beach cottage in the Gilbert District. Beautiful views of the Necanicum River in Seaside.

Astoria: We have had a home for many, many years in Astoria. My husband first started visiting when we was collecting antique decoys. Nice museums, restaurants, shops and Victorian architecture in Astoria. It is located on the Columbia River. There is also a very nice art gallery, Valley Bronze and a few good places to wine taste in Astoria. There is much history in the town and a real sense of community here.

Dundee: Located in the wine country, a small little town with good restaurants and wineries.

Have you been to Oregon before? :)

I have always had trouble with quaint. what is quaint?

My quaint towns Heppner, John Day, Wallowa, Lakeview, Vernonia, Detroit, Scio, Silverton, Mt Angel.

To me quaint is unusual pleasant place, a bit away from the crowds.

Have a hard time thinking of quaint full of people, but what do i know

Lisalala, since syrahgirl lives in California, I would listen to the other locals.

And it would be better to keep all the questions in one thread.

You might want to just ask the question you need to ask and not ask everyone for lists .

I agree that one post would be much easier.

Also, Syrahgirl...since you don%26#39;t live here in Oregon and have only driven through Dundee, did you know that there is nothing else there? No shopping area, etc. They go to Newberg for that.

Dundee is a fine little town. On the weekends though the 2 lane road becomes one huge traffic jam. The only thing in the area is wineries, and about 5 restaurants...total.

I think Phirl is onto something...quaint is defined differently by different people. I too think of places away from tourists, etc...and by that definition, Dundee doesn%26#39;t even come close.

';...the way you have categorized your questions is just fine!';

Well... maybe for someone who can tell everything they know about a place in two sentences.

I answered your other thread with this town, but I would add Gearhart to your quaint towns list. (See my response on favorite beaches.)

Jacksonville %26amp; Ashland, Depoe Bay, Silverton, McMinnville... all have nice downtown areas with good restaurants.
