Easier Way to Book a Yurt?

My husband and I enjoy staying in a Yurt on the Oregon Coast in the summer. I had to call every morning to try and be the first caller in the the State Park Reservations Line, exactly 9 months before our arrival date.. I was unsuccessful at booking for two weeks. I%26#39;d call. They were already booked! Finally, I got lucky and was able to book one. Does anyone know of an easier way or any trick to reserve a Yurt.?

Yurts are very popular. I have reserved them through the phone system(it was a cabin in central oregon). I don%26#39;t really know of any tricks-hopefully others will have some ideas. Is there any way you can ask the person that takes the reservation to be on a cancelation list? Maybe the teller would have an idea.

Very sorry to hear reserving a YURT has been such a chore for you. It%26#39;s not designed to be that way, trust me.

Here are a couple of suggestions directly from the call center manager: 1) If at all possible, make your reservations 9 months in advance. This is the maximum window allowed. 2) Call around 1:30 pm and 5 pm. This is when call volume is the lowest. 3) Go to www.oregonstateparks.org and reserve your YURT (or other facility) online via ReserveAmerica.

Option number 3 is the best because ReserveAmerica is tied directly into the call center%26#39;s database and therefore has up to date information 24/7.

Hope these suggerstions help.

Unfortunately, the following procedure is the best way to reserve your yurt:

1) Forget about reserving the yurt that I want.

2) You need to call on the Monday BEFORE the 9-month window opens at exactly 8am.

3) Reserve your yurt for the entire week.

4) Wait 7 months and 29 days.

5) Call again and cancel the days you don%26#39;t want (you%26#39;ll lose $6 on this part).

It%26#39;s pretty much the only way to guarantee the dates you want. Alternatively, you can call exactly one month and one day before you want to go, and hope that someone else took the advice I outlined above.
