Any suggestions for either the quickest or scenic drive from Florence to Crater Lake. Any thoughts about how much time to allow. Traveling on a Sunday AM. Thanks.
Florence to Crater Lake NP-best routes
I would drive south on Hwy 101 to Reedsport and take Hwy 38 to Elkton, then 138 to Sutherlin. At Sutherlin, head south on I-5 to Roseburg where you pick up Hwy 138 again. It%26#39;ll take all of 4.5 hours, perhaps more, but the entire drive is VERY scenic and it%26#39;s also the most direct route from Florence.

Florence to Crater Lake NP-best routes
dengay, thanks. That was a route I was looking at but wanted to hear from those familiar with it. Appreciate your input.
yes, i would defiinatly choose this route as well. On 138 roseburg to Crater Lake you will follow the North Umpqua River almost the whole way, it is quite beautiful. Don%26#39;t forget to stop at Tokatee Falls, a half mile or so walk. Classic Columnbar basalt rocks, if you are in to geology.
We will also be driving from Florence to Crater Lake. We were considering Route 126 to I-5 to Route 58 to Route 97 to Route 138. This is probably less scenic, but do you think it would be quicker?
macd19,
Your route will work as well, but I think it will take a bit longer than the southern route and it%26#39;s not near as scenic. Hwy 126 west is a fairly nice drive, especially on the coast side of the mountains, and Hwy 58 is a pretty drive to the summit. After Odell Lake, you enter the central Oregon climate zone and, IMO, everything begins to look the same.
Either way will take you the better part of 4.5 hours.

Thanks for the info. The more scenic route would probably be best!
Confirmed the scenic route, took the 4.5 hrs. Was great, thanks for the input/recommendations. Oregon showed us a good time.
