Restaurants

Visiting next week for two nights and we know we will eat dinner at Higgins one of them. We are trying decide between Hurley%26#39;s and Filberts. Any insight into those or even another we should consider. Thanks

Restaurants

We like Hurley%26#39;s. Wildwood, Paley%26#39;s Place, Carlyle, Park Kitchen are all worth considering. We had a very nice meal at the Heathman Hotel this summer. Good choice with Higgins, it is a Portland classic.

Another consideration is Fenouil, I have a review posted here with photos of our meal in June. It is located in the Pearl District, a very elegant, upscale dining room with excellent food and service. :)

Restaurants

Yes and Fenouil is even better for dinner, syrahgirl, when you come back to Oregon, you will have to try to stop in Portland and try it.

I would choose Higgins of the two you mention only because I have not eaten at Filberts :)

Here are some places that I have been to and can recommend:

Sorry, Macciatto, Portland is full of good places to eat :)

I would also consider Girogio%26#39;s in The Pearl. It is exceptionally good with excellent, friendly service.

So, what are you recommending, syrahgirl? I think Macciatto is asking for more than a list of every Portland restaurant you%26#39;ve been to in the last two-three years.

What kind of place are you looking for Macciatto? Hurley%26#39;s is known as a classy date night or celebration restaurant. Almost everything about the place is just right. Until you get the check! By contrast, Filberts isn%26#39;t well known around town for anything. I%26#39;m curious as to why you%26#39;re considering it.

Give us some more about what you%26#39;d like. I%26#39;m sure we can find the right spot for you.

mamababoo reminds me! yes, Giorgios! Elegant, small space with wonderful ';grown-up'; service and perfectly prepared Italian food.

Hi to my Oregon expert team,

I%26#39;m glad you followed me over to the Portland part of our trip. What we are looking for is the wonderful NW food experience. The freshness and creativity that many like Higgins deliver. I found Filberts on City Search. The reviews were consisitently great and the menu matches our taste as well. BTW really ready to break the 13 consecutive days of over 100. It looks like it will make 17, but I know the Friday will change for us. Thanks again.

%26lt;%26lt;What we are looking for is the wonderful NW food experience...freshness and creativity...%26gt;%26gt;

Although you should expect to find that at almost every restaurant mentioned in this thread, my suggestion would be to have the Chef%26#39;s Whim five course meal at Alberta Street Oyster Bar %26amp; Grill.

Once again, I have to agree with mistletoe and the Alberta St. Oyster Bar recommendation. Restaurant is about a 10 minute drive from downtown, located in NE neighborhood, Alberta St around 29th. Excellent cuisine %26amp; service. Google ';albertaoyster'; for their website with menus.

Another NE favorite of ours for tasty %26amp; original NW cuisine is Fife on NE Fremont. You can also find their website, too, via a google search.

Finally, for an option in downtown, consider Park Kitchen on the N. Park Blocks. NW 8th between Flanders %26amp; Glisan.

It%26#39;s interesting that Filberts came up as highly rated on your Citysearch browsing. Honestly, I%26#39;d never heard of that place. Whenever I%26#39;ve used citysearch of late, I%26#39;ve taken their rankings/reviews with a grain of salt...

Enjoy your visit! Be advised: on this morning%26#39;s 7-day forecast for Portland, the HIGHEST temperature I saw is 85 (Sunday), mostly upper 70%26#39;s for highs all week...you might want to pack a sweater or jacket! ;-)
