In your opinion, what%26#39;s the best state park yurt on the coast north of Coos Bay? By ';best,'; I mean least annoying. By ';annoying,'; I mean touristish.
best yurt
This is EAAAAASY!!! A DELUXE YURT at Umpqua Lighthouse just south of Winchester Bay. There are only 6 of these to choose from in a camping loop all by themselves. Pick number 15, 17 or 19 for the best views of tranquil Lake Marie and the most privacy (they face the lake and away from the other 3 Deluxe YURTS). Number 20 is okay as well b/c it%26#39;s at the end of the trail and you can get a glimps of the lake.
If you are not familair w/ deluxe YURTS, you are proably not alone. Umpqua Lighthouse is the only state park that has them. They are 24 ft in diameter (verses 16 ft for the standard YURT), have their own full bathroom, a microwave and TV, DVD, VCR (no cable). The rate for Discovery Season (now through April 30) is $45/night.

best yurt
We haven%26#39;t stayed in the Deluxe Yurts at Umpqua because of their price %26amp; availability. I also don%26#39;t believe that it%26#39;s on the beach....plus the Umpqua Lighthouse could bring in a good amount of tourists.
As for your question:
My fav would be Beachside...it only has two yurts and they%26#39;re somewhat seperated from the rest of the camping areas. The beach is just steps from your yurt door. Unfortunately, it%26#39;s closed from October-March.
Beverly Beach is huge...pretty darn touristy, they do have a nice stretch of beach though...and a ton of yurts so the possibility of them having an opening is good.
Honeyman is a tourist trap and the locations of their yurts aren%26#39;t really the best...sporatically placed in non-prime locations. I totally love the dunes at Honeyman though....good times
While the deluxe YURTS are very popular, it is mostly b/c of supply and demand. We are the only provider. I will guarantee Umpqua is not crowded, especially this time of year, but anytime really. The park only fills on weekends during July and Aug. That%26#39;s it.
It is not on the ocean either, but it%26#39;s a short walk and even shorter drive to one of the best (because it is largely unpopulated) and longest beaches in Oregon. Besides, the views of Lake Marie and the forest will make you forget all about the ocean.
