I decided to fight laziness and publish my Go! list based from my Labor Day weekend in PDX. I had a great time in the city--thanks to everyone on TA for all the help and insight!

my trip report of sorts--finally
Sounds like you had a good trip, and you sure did a lot!
my trip report of sorts--finally
Mtngrl,
Thanks! Coming from a pdx local expert--that means a lot to hear that :)
I take vacationing seriously. I was feeling a little defeated after my trip b/c i didn%26#39;t see EVERYTHING that was on my megalist, e.g., Pittock Mansion, the rose gardens, nob hill, sauvie island, multnomah village, Alberta or Mississippi Ave.... but I guess next time, right? Portland is a great town and everyone i met was soooo nice!
I also would like to check out Cannon Beach....but not during a major holiday like Labor Day b/c i%26#39;m sure the traffic could be hellish.
Thanks:) Guess that just means you need to plan another trip out here, lol! A hint though...Nob Hill is the touristy name for the NW area. So when you come, just refer to it as NW:) Also, Multnomah Village is fine, but for someone visiting I would not bother with it. I go there occassionally, but only for specific things, not really to wander. Does that make any sense? LOL!
Great list!!
and I agree, you saw a huge amount in your time here..
I love the Fox Tower :)
If you were on NW 23rd or 21st in that area, you were in ';Nob Hill';, there is really no ';Nob Hill'; , it is just that neighborhood.
and Multnomah Village is a cute area if you are looking to live here but not really on a visitors must see list.
So now you know, you have a list of things to do and see so you must hurry back :)
And write more lists!! :)
oh i will definitely be back! Though a Portland native did tell me that I should go to Vancouver, Canada to round out my unofficial tour of the northwest (loved visiting san francisco and seattle in %26#39;05 and %26#39;06...now portland this month) So it%26#39;s just a matter of when. One more thing I didn%26#39;t experience was a movie at one of the McMenamin%26#39;s. But I%26#39;ve gone to something similar in Austin, Tx known as ';The Alamo'; and it was fun to have real food while watching a movie! Oh, and how could I forget...I wanted to check out the End of the Oregon Trail Interpretive Center...but being without a car and with such a jampacked schedule this first go-round...I don%26#39;t think I could have made it. another 4day weekend, can%26#39;t wait!
Sounds like you had a nice time! We have enjoyed several stays at the Riverplace Hotel, adjacent to the Waterfront Park. It%26#39;s a great area of PDX to spend time in. :)
Some of our favorite restaurants are in the Nob Hill area, Paley%26#39;s Place and Wildwood to name a couple. We also love the Escape From New York pizza in Nob Hill, such a cool little neighborhood.
Yes, next time plan for Cannon Beach, it%26#39;s a gorgeous area of the Northern Oregon Coast. Haystack Rock is one of the most photographed icons in the area. Thanks for reporting back! :)
Roadtravler, I forgot to tell you, Sushiland is just blocks from my home, we walk by there everyday with the dog..I love the whole concept and the sushi :)
I walk past GroundKontrol all the time and never went inside, but you can hear what is going on lol..you did some really interesting non-touristy things here, nice to read about. Especially since some post about visiting Portland often but repeat the same places over and over, never really seeing all the new and interesting Portland places. It is changing here so fast, next trip you will have SO much more new stuff to explore and tell us about..looking forward to that :)
