Next week my family is all flying to Oregon for a reunion. Most of the time we%26#39;ll be at our place on the coast.. But, we will be spending one day watching my neice skate at Lloyd Center. I have my favorite NE PDX restaurants, but I don%26#39;t think my sister and her kids would enjoy them. My sister and her kids are very, very picky eaters. Sometimes I wonder if we really are related!! I think Mexican is about adventerous as they%26#39;ll go.
So the question is where should we go for lunch that will offer a relaxed environment and good food...for both kids and adults?
Generally when hubby and Ifly to PDX we just hop in the car and head to the coast, so I%26#39;m not real familiar with the restaurant choices around Lloyd Center. I%26#39;d prefer to avoid the chain restaurants. But I%26#39;m open to any suggestions.
Thanks!

There are a few smaller ';chain'; restaurants around Lloyd Center area you might consider...the more regional-type chains.
Red Robin serves burgers, fries, shakes, etc.and is located at the corner of NE Grand/Multnomah. Maybe not as quiet/relaxing as you%26#39;d want if they%26#39;re busy.
Pastini Pastaria serves good pasta (with kids menu too) and is on NE Broadway between 14th %26amp; 15th. Good variety on the menu for everyone
Next door to Pastini is Pizza Schmizza. Big slices of good pizza, salads, sodas %26amp; beer.
McMenamins on Broadway is on the second floor of a building at the corner of Broadway %26amp; 15th. Burgers, pizzas, some sandwiches, pub food in general.
Chipotle is Tex-Mex and is at NE Weidler/7th.(Across the street from Taco Bell %26amp; KFC!)
Cadillac Cafe (NE Broadway/18th) has good breakfasts and lunches.
Hope that helps you...enjoy your visit!

Thanks Brian!
I%26#39;ve never eaten at Pastini or the Cadillac Cafe, so I may push our little group that direction. I always like to try new things.
Chipotle is a favorite of ours here in Las Vegas. But I must say I like the one by Lloyd Center much better as they serve margaritas. I live in a town where bars are open 24/7 but no margaritas at our Chipoltes...only the one in Portland. Go figure!
Thanks again!
Great suggestions so far. One place not mentioned is Widmer%26#39;s. They have some basic things like burgers, but also some good variety for adults. I have been there with all adults, as well as with our kids, and it works for both types of groups.
Is that Widmer as in the beer/ale people? Widmer is a favorite of mine.
Sure is! Plus, they bring you samples when they bring you water:)
TahitiGirl:
Yep, Widmer%26#39;s Gasthaus is about 5 minutes from Lloyd Center. Corner of N. Russell %26amp; Interstate. Good food %26amp; brews. Somewhat of a lean towards German cuisine (sausage) but most pub type food, too. They typically have 4 or 5 beers on-tap at the Gasthaus which they don%26#39;t bottle. A check on the website today (google: ';widmer';) showed all the usual Widmers on tap, plus a Bitter Ale, Dortmunder Lager, Hopnosis (Double IPA), Belgian Wit, Oktoberfest, and Hooligan (an interesting gluten-free beer which I tried at the recent Brewers Festival - different...very sweet).
They have hour-long FREE brewery tours at 3pm on Fridays and at 11am %26amp; noon on Saturdays, if that interests you and the family. Both times I%26#39;ve been on the tour, I%26#39;ve seen several kids with families. At the tour%26#39;s conclusion the adults get 4 tastes of Widmer beers; kids get Widmer root beer or sodas. Typically they give out some free stuff, too, like a Widmer pint glass or keychain bottle opener.
Good idea, Mtngrl! ;-)
Brian, have you been to the The Screen Door on Burnside?
Southern....have been hearing nice things ...
Oh decisions, decisions, decisions! Since Widmer is one of my favorite beer brewers that%26#39;d be my vote. But I%26#39;ll have to think about a way to convince my sister and kids to go there. But I%26#39;m creative!
Scarlett:
The Screen Door? No, I%26#39;ve never heard of it...you%26#39;ll have to educate us all more...Southern sounds good, tho. I%26#39;ll do some research...

Tahiti--Just don%26#39;t tell her what it is:) Tell her it is a place recommended to you that is good for kids. It IS...so you won%26#39;t be lying:) Let her know there are sandwiches and burgers. I don%26#39;t know if they have a childrens menu, but you could call and ask.
