Portland trip winding down

A month ago, I asked where to stay and what to do in Portland. I have been here a week, and I%26#39;ll tell you what I found.

I stayed at the Mark Spencer Hotel. I think it is great. It was $95 a night and $14 to park. Internet is $7 a day. It is in walking distance to Whole Foods and there is a fully functional kitchen (including oven). There is laundry in the basement which is really a great courtyard. The people are friendly.

We ate out at Jakes and Henry%26#39;s Tavern--pretty good--I still prefer to cook.

I walked to the Urban Wine Works which is way cool.

I got my daughter checked in at Pacific University in Forest Grove. The town is so nice, I rented a garage apartment next to a restored Victorian for me to come visit my daughter often. She loves the University, but is happy to have an off site place to recharge and privacy from the dorms.

There are some wineries in biking distance to Forest Grove and I hope to get to them today or tomorrow.

Portland is 40 minutes to Forest Grove and I may check out today and stay at the Lodge closer to the college before I leave late tomorrow.

Thanks for all of the direction from the site. Portland and the surrounding small towns are fabulous.

Sounds very nice. I%26#39;ve heard great things about Pacific University! My daughter is friends with one of the soccer players there, very nice boy who loves the college! :)
