Where to stay near the California/Oregon border

Does anyone have suggestions for reasonably priced lodging near the CA/OR border? We%26#39;re traveling up the 101. I%26#39;ve seen some hotels in the $60-$90 range, but it%26#39;s hard to tell which ones offer the best stays. An ocean view would be nice, but comfort is priority, clean and friendly is more important. Thanks!

You are more likely to find ocean view in Gold beach than Brookings or Crescent City.

There is a new Hampton Inn in Crescent City that is very nice, right on the ocean. It%26#39;s so much better than the other hotels in town that it could be expensive if it%26#39;s on the weekend, though - you might want to find out before stopping by.

There are also three or four Comfort-Inn-type hotels in town that are not exciting by any means, but have pretty good prices and are clean and friendly. I think we stayed at the Lamplighter if I remember right and it was fine - free wireless internet and all that.

The town is not very exciting to say the least, though - so you may want to stop for dinner elsewhere.

The Sand n Sea in Gold Beach is oceanfront. It is clean and comfortable, there is a small indoor pool and walking paths down to the ocean. Have a great trip! :)
